Welcome
Pope Plantation is a family owned and operated hunting preserve located in Washington Georgia.

Our property
has been in the family for five generations. Farming along with havesting pecans and timber have long been
the focal point of this property. In 2007 we decided to turn our beautiful mix of loblolly pines, hardwoods
and vast fields into a top notch hunting preserve. Come join us for the unique opportunity to hunt a variety of picturesque
upland courses or take a shot at a trophy buck. Recently expanded or amenities to include charter fishing
and predator hunting. Our preserve is positioned between Athens and Augusta, and hour and a half from
Atlanta. Pope Plantation can arrange transportation to and from Washington Wilkes Airport which is only 10 minutes away.
Should you decide to travel by helicopter....well just land beside the lodge.
Congratulations to 11 year old Tristen Chambers!!!
Not only did Tristen bag his first deer, but he was able to harvest a doe, button Buck and 3 point Buck all in one morning.
What a way to start a hunting career!

History
of Washington
On January 23, 1780, in the midst of the hard and bitter fighting of the Revolution, the Executive Council
ordered the town to be laid out in Wilkes County, Georgia. The council specified that it was to be called Washington,
making this the first town in the United States named for George Washington. On his visit to Georgia in 1791, the town
was confirmed as the first city chartered with the name of the Commander-in-Chief of the American armies.
Washington Georgia is home to over 100 colonial, ante-bellum and Victorian homes dating
back to the 1800's. Southern hospitality, tree lined streets and historic sites are just some of the beautiful characteristics
that make up this beautiful Town.
