Welcome
Pope
Plantation is a family owned and operated hunting preserve in the quaint East Georgia town of Washington.

Our property
has been in the family for five generations. Farming along with havesting pecans and timber have long been
the focal point of this property. In 2007 we decided to turn our beautiful mix of loblolly pines, hardwoods
and vast fields into a top notch hunting preserve. Come join us for the unique opportunity to hunt a variety of picturesque
upland courses.
Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a great hunting preserve that you will want
to come back to year after year. We will be glad to customize your trip to include many different activities. Pope
Plantation offers Deer Hunting, Quail Hunting, Skeet Shooting, Hiking and our Lodge is available all year. We
are positioned between Athens and Augusta, and less than 2 hours from Atlanta Georgia. Pope Plantation can
arrange transportation to and from Washington Wilkes Airport which is only 10 minutes away. Should you decide to travel
by helicopter....well just land beside the lodge. Great Hunting, Great Friends and Great Times.
Congratulations to 7 year old Chris
Burney on his 1st Deer, a very nice 7 point. We are so proud of you!
History
of Washington
On January 23, 1780, in the midst of the hard and bitter fighting of the Revolution, the Executive Council
ordered the town laid out in Wilkes County, Georgia. The council specified that it was to be called Washington, making this
the first town in the United States named for George Washington. The town was confirmed by the Commander-in-Chief of the American
armies, as the first city chartered in his name, on his visit to Georgia in 1791.
Washington Georgia is home to over 100 colonial, ante-bellum and Victorian homes dating back to the 1800's.
Southern hospitality, tree lined streets and historic sites are just some of the beautiful characteristics that make up this
beautiful Town.
